The IIMs are rightly regarded as the pinnacle of management education in the country. However, the post of director of 70% of Indian Institutes of Management are lying vacant, for quite a long time now. As many as 14 of the 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in the country, which include old IIMs such as Bangalore and Kozhikode was operating without any director, the government informed the Lok Sabha on Monday.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Mahendra Nath Pandey, informed that the posts of director were lying vacant in the IIMs in Amritsar, Bangalore, Bodh Gaya, Kozhikode, Nagpur, Ranchi, Raipur, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Sirmaur, Udaipur, Visakhapatnam, Tiruchirappalli and the newly set up Jammu.
