The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Thursday declared the results of Civil Services Preliminary Examination, 2017 on its official website. The examination was held on June 18, 2017. Candidates who have passed the Civil Services Prelims 2017 exam have qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2017.
Candidates who have passed the preliminary exam have qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination. The candidature of these candidates is provisional. They will have to apply online again in the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for Civil Services (Main) (CSM) Examination 2017.
Approximately 980 vacancies would be filled through the examination. The Civil Services Examination is conducted in three successive stages to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others:
1) Preliminary (objective type) for the selection of candidates for the main examination.
2) Civil Services (Main) Examination (written) for the selection of candidates.
3) Interview for final selection of candidates for the various Services and posts announced.
